Assassin's Creed Valhalla River Raids Walkthrough Part 1
0Assassin’s Creed Valhalla allows you to sail to several custom and separate instances called River Raids in pursuit of resources both new and old to upgrade your gear and settlement.
The raids also offer new loot as a brand-new gear set. This is a high power level feature and is intended to be played and replayed multiple times.
The river raids have several complex mechanics that make them unique, challenging, rewarding, and fun at the same time.
Your first River Raid with Varn
Varn will take you with his own crew of jomsviking warriors to your first river raid to introduce you to the mechanic. While raiding the river Exe you will learn the basics of river raids. This first quest is called “A River to Raid”.
The first and most important thing to remember is that there is no save option during the raids. If you are defeated, you lose all of your progress and loot obtained up to this point.
The first raid is no different from any other raid that follows. It takes place along the shores of the river Exe in England and this is a brand new location on a separate map that you will be exploring.
You start always at the bottom right and follow the river. Along the left and right shores, you will encounter the traditional AC Valhalla yellow markers signifying raidable locations.
There are small camps, farms, military encampments, and monasteries on this map. You can stop to raid any location of your choice. You do not need to complete them all in one go.
The objective of your first river raid is simple and quick. The first thing you need to do is collect a big ration chest. You can find these usually in civilian locations such as farms, for example. You can find one in the very first settlement–Keats Farm.
Return to the ship and follow the river to the next raid location. Your next objective will be to collect two foreign supplies from foreign supply chests. These are usually found in military camps and forts as well as in and around monasteries.
This concludes the objectives for your tutorial quest. You can now return to the Settlement to talk to Varn or continue to raid the other locations along the river.
My suggestion – return to complete the quest. There is no point raiding all locations on your very first run. It doesn’t hurt to try to do it, though. You might find some secrets that you will learn about anyway, sooner or later. They will still be there when you visit the river next time.
