01cc of "Astebreed: Definitive Edition" on the PC via Steam. The game uses a shield, but no lives so one death is a game-over if you are going for a single credit. The shield more than balances this out in my opinion. You can cancel purple bullets with your shot or blade, yellow bullets only with your blade, you can also lock on to or cut down missiles. All other types of attacks must be dodged. All in all a really great shooting game. Edelweiss clearly know how to make a genuinely excellent stg while still having very high production values not commonly seen in the genre. Definitely check this out if you like Shoot 'em up or Mecha games. For the more serious players there is higher difficulty setting, and a pretty well implemented scoring system that requires you to balance your regular and lock-on shot in conjunction with you melee blade attacks in order to keep up and cash in on high multipliers.
