Asus ROG Ally vs Nintendo Switch OLED: Which handheld console is right for you?
Love the Nintendo Switch OLED but craving a more powerful handheld experience? The new Asus Republic of Gamers Ally could be the console for you.
It may not have an OLED display, but the ROG Ally's 7in LCD screen is brighter, refreshes twice as fast and has a higher native resolution of 1080p. It can also be used to enjoy a more traditional gaming experience when connected to a monitor or TV, though, you'll need to buy a ROG gaming charger dock separately.
As for games, its Windows 11 OS provides access to Steam, Epic Games, Launcher and Xbox Game Pass among a whole host of other services. So as long as it's not Nintendo or PlayStation exclusives, you're after the ROG Ally has you covered.
The Ally costs a whopping £699 However, more than twice the Nintendo Switch OLED. The price of entry and Windows 11’s foibles will be offputting for some and the Nintendo Switch is a far better choice for casual gamers, but if you want to play a huge range of games on the go, the ROG Ally is a great place to do it.
