One of the most influential side-scrolling shooting games of all time where you play of role of a spaceship and shoot alien invasions. Earth is enduring an onslaught from columns of bomb-dropping outsiders, and you want to shield it! You are in charge of a laser cannon at the bottom of the screen, and the rows of aliens begin at the top of the screen. Shooting the aliens before they can land is how you get points. The aliens move back and forth, dropping one row closer to the bottom whenever they reach the screen's end. Shoot them all, and you continue on to the following (harder) level, however, assuming even one of them handles the game is finished. Along the top of the screen, a flying saucer will occasionally appear; Take this shot to score more points. There are four or three shields just above your laser cannon, depending on the platform you're playing on; These can protect you from the aliens' bombs while also preventing your own shots. You start the game with just a few laser cannons, but the game ends if all of them are bombed.
