{LL's Quick Review}
+ Music
+ Characters
+ Nonlinear pace
+ Extremely flexible time management
+ Battle System a little more strategic
+ Alchemy gathering and synthesis is simplified
- Recycled enemies (lack of enemy models)
- "Hidden" event triggers with no guidelines can screw you up
- Ayesha's Items are very underwhelming (completely underpowered by end game, making attack items worthless)
- Early Synthesis can't be produced with max efficiency due to how materials are now standardized.
- Lack of bosses (only 3 bosses the whole game)
- Lack of Request Log (making it hard to keep track of requests items)
Overall, as a new arc to the Atelier series.. Ayesha did change a lot of the norm such as Materials (all materials are now standard, no more random properties) and Alchemy synthesis (due to how material works as being standardized).
While the new synthesis style is much easier to customized and such, the problem is with the materials being standardized, you can't make the best possible "efficient" item due to low level materials. Where as in Totori/Meruru, with random properties and traits, you can get the "best" at that time (assuming you are lucky enough to get those random traits).
Overall, I love how nonlinear which allows you to go anywhere you want, allowing you to beat the main storyline by the first year if you want (since it seems the developers wants you to do that and complete all quests and events post-game).
Battle System is improved as I love the new "Back Attack" as well as the multiple usages of the Assist Gauge now (whether for attack or backup support). Although I do wish they kept the Meruru's Item Combo attack though.
Overall it is a great game as a new arc in a new standardized gathering and synthesis style.
