I pick up a Palit HD4870 Sonic Dual Edition video card and it didn't cost me a thing!

The ATi HD4870 was a big turn around for AMD/ATi half a year ago. The card came out of nowhere and surprised many when it did.

With a long overdue redesign to their GPU architecture it finally ended ATi's loosing streak. The 4870 was a blazing fast card when it came out 6 months ago and still is today. This is the best video card around or just under the popular $200 mark in my opinion.

The Palit Sonic Dual Edition has a few unique features including Dual BIOS with Overclocking switch on rear panel, Display Port output and Dual fans to keep it running cool. Beyond that it has all the usual features of a modern ATi card including Crossfire X support and Realtek HD 7.1 audio for sound over HDMI.

This is an older 512MB GDDR5 version and now if you are looking for a new 4870 you would want to get the 1GB versions witch came out shortly after the originals.
