A game that killed the series , if your wondering why we don't get any more krondors... from awful camera , to no tutorial (it was that time when they forced you to read the manual) , to broken combat system ... This game was one of those games that wanted to be edgy and used 3D models on pre-rendered backgrounds ... but to make those you have to have a nice design to them ... and really GOOD 3D ARTISTS ... they had none of those ... but people loved it for it ... we mean 3D thing ... not the interface that was broken ... you could say , people where suckered by those graphics ... of 3d from 1998

Back then in 1998, and still now in 2015 for us, this game was a broken mess of controls doing what ever they wanted, but not the thing you would want .

So lets look at the history of development of this awfulness:
1994: Dynamix, at this time a division of Sierra On-line, reorganizes their staff and cancels a planned sequel to Betrayal at Krondor named Thief of Dreams.
1996: 7th Level purchased the license for the game and renamed it Return to Krondor. They developed the game basics, produced the screen backgrounds and added the character voices, then turned to Cincinnati-based Pyrotechnix for the more technical aspects of the game development.
1997: Pyrotechnix, at this time a division of 7th Level, is sold to Sierra On-line.
1998: Pyrotechnix completes the game. It is published in November.

So as you can see , it was another of those games from development hell, that came to our hands ... did we say it was Episode 1 aka Book 1 ... Yes ,it was a planed remake/return to Krondor with a planed trilogy ...that never happened due to mediocre gameplay ... well you could say the account money scam that brought Sierra down also had something to do with it

In March 1998, Cendant had reported a 1997 net income of $55.4 million. However, the true 1997 result was a net loss of $217.2 million. As irregularities in the books of Cendant were discovered in early 1998, an audit committee set up by Cendant's Board of Directors launched an investigation and discovered that the former management team of CUC, including its top executives Walter Forbes and Kirk Shelton, had been fraudulently preparing false business statements for several years.

OUCH
