Australian Potash Ltd aiming for the top end of the sulphate of potash price spectrum
Australian Potash Ltd’s Matt Shackleton puts Proactive’s Katie Pilbeam in the picture regarding where the company fits in the potash market – one that is dominated by Canada, Russia and Belarus.
Australian Potash is ready to make a final investment decision on its Lake Wells Sulphate of Potash project in Western Australia's Eastern Goldfields just at the point where around 40% of the world’s potash projection (from Russia and Belarus) might be subject to constraints.
Australian Potash is aiming to produce a premium potash product that will serve the local market – Australia often finds itself towards the back of the supply queue behind other bigger potash consumers – with some left over to feed into the export market. “We’re looking to capture the very top end of that sulphate of potash price spectrum,” Shackleton said.
