INGREDIENTS:
Glutinous Rice Flour
Sugar
Red Bean Paste
Flour
Oil for frying
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Mix half of your sugar and flour with a ⅓ cup of boiling water and the other half with cold water
2. Combine the two and continue mixing into a ball of dough
3. When you finish kneading it, place it into a container and cover it to let it rise, it should double in size
4. Flour it up and punch the air out
5. Then roll it up into a tube and break it up into smaller 3oz pieces
6. Using a rolling pin, work these around in a circular motion to create a dumpling skin
7. Place one tablespoon of red bean paste then fold dough over and pinch dough together on left and right sides to seal it off (Be careful to not put too much paste in the middle!)
8. Heat a pot of oil to 300F
9. Dip your Nian Gao in, letting them rise to the top and flipping them til the size is doubled
10. That’s it! Enjoy your delicious treat but make sure to let them cool a little bit before you bite into them :)
