Avatar’s and The Legend of Korra’s Earth Kingdom have been at the center of bending revolution when Toph invented metalbending. From her Metalbending Academy to her daughter’s Suyin city state of Zaofu, metalbending has gone a long way. During Korra’s era, it became part of everyday life in Republic City as the police force’s main bending type.
But what if I tell you there’s another type of advanced earthbending out there? Glassbending.
It was revealed quite recently in the novel The Shadow of Kyoshi—the follow-up to The Rise of Kyoshi—that the violent and stoic Avatar Kyoshi had the ability to glassbend.
In today’s video, I will explain how glassbending is actually mixed-bending, and how it might have been used during Korra’s time, and how the Sandbenders are the perfect benders to start glassbending. I will also have a little fun imagining how glassbending could be used in combat!
