I always wanted to play this game, and I finally got to play the demo I found on an old LEVEL magazine DVD.
This game came out in 2009, alongside James Cameron's movie of the same name, and was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, responsible for many of Ubisoft's most popular franchises. Notably, the game (PC version) is created on the Dunia engine, which is a modified CryEngine, same one that's under Far Cry hood, except for the first Far Cry, which is based on the CryEngine. Anyway, thing is this game is both a beauty and also a beast. Graphically, it still looks stunning by today's standards, and that's only the demo, but it's very glitchy at times, got stuck in the geometry several times, had to re-record because I encountered a crash, but at least it runs very well and at a fairly stable frame rate. Gameplay-wise, it has good shooting mechanics, a range of cool weapons, and gadgets inspired by Crysis (I guess), like cloaking, and moving aroung is enjoyable and responsive. Downside is that it's mostly linear, restrictive level design, AI is useless or just plain awful, and it's barely fun when you're given such a limited sandbox to play in when they've got an amazing world that's based on.
Hope you enjoyed it!
