This makes me sad.

R2's coop mode was my intro to this franchise, when I played it at a friend's house back in 2009. I had so many fantastic high-school memories of booting up this game and playing the co-op mode into the night. I remember all the maps, I remember how those maps played, and I even had all the co-op trophies on my old PSN account.

Then the servers shut down in 2014. Which means, not only is the competitive mode inaccessible, but the only way to play coop is solo. Not only is it completely unbalanced for single player, it's also impossible for any class other than the medic to survive the first wave of the first objective.

I adore this franchise, and this specific entry holds a place in my heart partly due to how awesome this mode was with a full lobby of competent players. Sadly, those days shall never be again. This game is 15 years old, and Sony doesn't even acknowledge this franchise. (Seeing how "Burning Skies" underperformed, I can't really blame them from a business perspective.) Insomniac mentions this series, but in passing, and they don't own the rights.

I wish this trilogy would get a remake/reboot, as we've seen with several successful titles the past few years (Resident Evil 2-4, Dead Space, Final Fantasy 7), but honestly, only like 6 other people aside from me care about it. And it _sucks_ because, despite its problems, this series has so many cool ideas and unanswered questions.
