In this part, we visit the office of Reynard Vulpes and pass on the message that the birds have flown south for the winter. In return, we get some ticket stubs for two members of the Cygne family.
We waste the next day playing cards, and the day before the trial begins, Sparrowson has good news! He tested the chocolate wrapper for poison by eating it himself. Sparrowson is quickly hospitalized, and the doctor believes he will recover from the poisoning soon.
Jayjay Falcon is assaulted by an unseen stranger, and he wakes up in the Seine. He rushes to the courtroom, but is he too late? It seems so, but when the King of France himself appears, Judge Romulus continues the trial. One cannot turn down an opportunity to have the king give testimony!
