I always try to play the games I criticize, Avowed is no different.
As much as I dislike Matt Hansen, I will review it fairly when it does good but I will amplify the bad.
The gameplay of Avowed is actually pretty fun & can be fast paced. It looks like it's pretty tight, but when you swap to 3rd person, it all falls apart.
What really kills the game is the dialogue & the story.
10 minutes of action, most missions are over in about 10 minutes if you explore, then you are met with 10-15 minutes of boring pretentious dialogue.
It is so badly written & emersion breaking, because the lines are delivered so blandly. It sounds like they are all just reading of the script on their couch.
Honestly, after playing Avowed for a few hours & completing Dragon Age The Veilguard, I installed Mass Effect 2 so I can play a better RPG, that came out in 2010. Man was it good.
I might do another couple of compilation videos & call it quits, youtube does not seem to want to find audiences for this gave video, even though it is a trending topic for game critiques.
