As requested by dialsforstupid, I'll be covering one of Bach's six Partitas for harpsichord. Perhaps appropriately, I chose to use the NES's "harpsichord" sound for this project.
The Partita No. 2 in C minor opens with a meaty "Sinfonia" set in three distinct sections, each progressively faster than the last. The opening section is slow, somber, and filled with passion despite its short length, the second (0:50) is more amiable but just as expressive. Finally, the sinfonia is capped off with, of course, a fugue (2:33) and quite a fleetfooted and impressive one at that.
After this opening movement, just like the other partitas and suites that Bach wrote, we will be presented with a series of shorter ones, examples of various Baroque dances.
