Backbone One | What is PlayStation Edition Controller Capable Of?
Sony has unveiled an official licensed mobile controller for the iPhone called the Backbone One - PlayStation Edition. Designed by Backbone and compatible with current iPhone models. It allows you to play both mobile and console games (in the second case via Remote Play). The novelty is already available in Backbone and Best Buy stores for $99.99.
The visually rendered controller with the iPhone attached resembles a PS Vita, but for some reason Backbone retained the analog stick layout of the Xbox controller. It can be used with different versions of Apple smartphones, from iPhone 13 Mini to iPhone 13 Pro Max. The case is made in black and white colors, like the DualSense controller for PlayStation 5. In terms of design, the novelty is in many ways reminiscent of the standard Backbone One controller released in 2020. Backbone One - PlayStation Edition can be used to play games on Apple Arcade, Xbox Game Pass, and Stadia.
The controller is powered by the iPhone via the Lightning port, and a standard 3.5 mm jack is provided for connecting headphones. The orange Backbone button performs the same function as the PS button in Remote Play. Backbone has confirmed that this version of the controller will be exclusive to the iPhone. A controller for Android-based smartphones is currently under development. Its launch should take place this fall.
