This one took quite a while. I know there's only a few more missions, but they really ramp up the stunlocking in these later stages. Additionally, they take away all my weapons and thermal energy whenever there's a cutscene transition. Gotta buff that difficulty somehow. Speaking of which, this stage has a bigger version of the previous stage's boss, and I cannot figure out what exactly the deal was trying to damage it. Thankfully the VS scale grenade launcher works pretty reliably, letting me finish the job with whatever other explosives I can find. If this thing can tear through the VTX-140 as fast as it does, I'm concerned for what the future bosses can do to us.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is the first of the Lost Planet series, originally an Xbox 360 exclusive that made its way to other systems after being released in 2006. Playing as Wayne Holden, you fight against the alien Akrid (whose unique physiology produces vital Thermal Energy), snow pirates (who survive in the harsh environment by harvesting said Akrid energy), and NEVEC, a colonization force from Earth. This shooter combines on foot and mech piloting combat together with a grappling movement system and the persistant Thermal Energy drain of a harsh environment, pushing you to keep moving forward. Many of these kinds of systems and ideas would be done better in other games, but Lost Planet was a worthwhile experiment with a fanbase that still plays the game's multiplayer mode 15+ years later.
