An anime dodgeball RPG with an overall Pokemon vibe? Sign me up!

I saw this is leaving GamePass soon and knew I HAD to give it a go before it goes! I've always had a soft spot for cel shaded stuffs and the overall energy of the game is making it a blast to play so far!
Yeah, it starts out a bit slow what with the simple throws and catches but it's a necessary evil to make sure you have the reaction time for the basics. This first video is a bit of an exposition dump but hey... it's anime. A sports anime. You know it's the requirement!
I am digging the character design and animated stylings thus far. It feels like it should be a bit odd up against the simple 3D backgrounds but somehow it works out. Maybe it's because the pastel color scheme and art design ties it together so well!
Anyway, am enjoying it so far!

Technical Notes:

As simple as this game looks it was a real bear to get captured. I'm unsure as to why but there were a lot of frame pacing issues causing either the capture to stutter or the game to stutter when scrolling and the like.
it didn't have to do with the GPU or CPU being overtaxed, 'cause yeah, this is not a resource intensive game.
Long story short is I had to tweak/turn off a lot of settings that usually make the experience smoother to... make the experience smoother. Counterintuitive but it worked. Even still I get a bout of stutters in game from time to time but it isn't constant any more.
I'm gonna simply lay the blame on Microsoft's horrible UWP application system they force you to play all games from their store on. The problems it creates are usually manageable but it's still a whole extra layer you have to troubleshoot whenever something turns up.
If you don't like DRM or having full control of your games (it LOCKS game files away in protected folders) you'll hate the Windows Store. I'd recommend any other PC storefront over them.
...thanks for having a great game subscription though, Microsoft!
