Bad Apple!! but it's 2D DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform)
Still waiting for my audio interface and can't wait to record more game music from hardware; it should arrive in a couple of days or so but in the meantime, here's Bad Apple but in 2D discrete cosine transform.
If you want to see the result of actually cropping the DCT data and then decoding the result, please see the follow-up video here: https://youtu.be/s3nYIlpA-NI
A scale is provided on the right but the display is not value-accurate because I did some math to make the pattern stand out and what you see is heavily clipped compared to the actual values. Instead of doing 2D DCT on 8x8 blocks like JPEG, I decided to do DCT on the entire image because I thought it would be more interesting.
By the way, speaking of JPEG, Google is trying to kill JPEG XL--the very much anticipated successor to the original JPEG--by not adding support to Google Chrome even though many browsers, companies and software have already added support to some degree. For more info on why JPEG XL is superior compared to AVIF and WebP and JPEG and PNG, please check https://jpegxl.info . If you know of a way, please try to convince Google to continue supporting JPEG XL on Chrome. Thanks.
