Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 Bards and Gnomes ( And More DnD 5e Goodness )

Hey Bards, quit singing all by yourself in your dark room and get to steam to download the latest patch for Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access where you can now play through the entire first act of the campaign as a Bard, the newest class to unlock for this in-development CRPG that is turning Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition seemlessly into a game that we can play on our own terms. Patch 8 is now here and ready for download and I'm going to run you through all the new things you can expect from Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access, so stick with me until the end as there are plenty of surprises and awesome juice to talk about!

Now anybody that isn't new here knows that I was REALLY hoping for Paladin next, but the Bard looks fantastic, and in Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 which is called "Of Valour and Love" today on July 7th 2022, they had their panel from hell showcase in which they showed off the new class available for Baldur's Gate 3. The Bard can throw insults in which they said there are 97 random insults that the player can spew out at their enemy, which psychically hurts their feelings, causing them to have to roll at a disadvantage on their next turn. This isn't all the Bards can do of course, they have multiple instruments to play with and plenty of magically enchanted songs for battle or out of battle. Now first we have to discuss that the Bard can be a combat oriented version which is the College of Valour : Which allows for inspiration during combat, giving a big ole boost of a 1d6 bonus roll for attacks, saves or checks. Oh, and a +4 to AC as well.
Then there is the Bard's College of Lore in Baldur's Gate 3 which is more about support spells like debuffing the enemy of buffing the party. Cutting words will be here which give a big penalty to the enemy attack rolls, saves or checks. And then there is the Perform ability, where you capture the attention of NPCs, this can be used out of combat as a distraction, or to get rewards as people enjoy your performance, (if your rolls for performance are good of course).
So overall, the Bard looks like a ton of fun, and I know there are plenty of DnD Bard fans out there rejoicing and probably already have their lute out strumming and singing the praises as they download the patch on steam.
But it's not JUST about the new Bard Class for Baldur's Gate 3, we also recieve the new race : The Gnome, and this is the FIRST TIME we are getting a new race since Early Access for Baldur's Gate 3 has launched, so it's pretty exciting. And yes, the gnome CAN be a bard, so roll up your little shorty gnome bard as soon as you patch up, because indeed, Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 is out RIGHT NOW for download and play for anyone who has prepaid for Baldur's Gate 3 which means you have access to the entirity of Act 1 and all 8 patches that have come out so far.
