Banjo-Tooie (N64): Possible Memory Corruption Glitch?
A while ago, during a normal playthrough of Banjo-Tooie, I crashed my emulator by interacting with a signpost while doing some of Banjo's solo moves.
I decided to investigate a little further, and indeed, it seems something awry happens when doing these moves and talking / interacting with something. However, the nature of this glitch seems to be incredibly random, at least for the moment.
If it's possible to manipulate this, somehow, then I'd assume that an ACE would be possible on Banjo-Tooie.
It might be possible that multiple factors result in this glitch. The number of your eggs, Jiggy's you collected, certain flags from your save file (if you rescued the Boggy's children, if you did X, Y or Z, etc.).
It might be interesting to try out this glitch while carrying something on Banjo's backpack. "null" types of glitch commonly happens on games that lets you "store" things, in this case, Banjo's backpack.
It's worth noting that Banjo-Tooie has an extensive crash handler that can be enabled with a button combination. Make sure to check the TCRF article for Banjo-Tooie, it explains how to access it.
If others would like to try this glitch on real hardware, please let me know, since I currently don't have access to a N64. Do note that the clips featured on this video were all after about 3 to 4 hours of recording. Sometimes I got crashes frequently, other times, no.
I wasn't able to record everything I witnessed, but I did get a couple other interesting things like having Banjo's animation being screwed up before crashing (his legs and one arm raised up), the game crashing after I touched the lava on Hailfire Peaks, and so on.
