8There are 5 drills in basic defense in skills trainer in madden nfl 20. I show how I completed all 5 drills and earned a gold medal and each of them. The five drills are: tackling mechanic, pass rush, hit stick, red zone defense, and coverage mechanics.

Tackling Mechanic: Learn the proper technique of tackling along with the new Strafe Assist, Conservative, and Aggressive tackling mechanics.
Pass Rush Tutorial / Sack The Quarterback: This is one of the harder challenge to complete if you don't know how to do it properly. Do not try to sack playing as the defensive linemen. This is the worst thing you can do. What you should actually do to complete this challenge is to play as the db / lb and blitz. Trust me on this - just blitz the qb and watch the sacks rack up. Watch at about 10:10 of the video.
Hit Stick Tutorial: You have to be patient in this drill. Don't just go after the runningback after the ball is snapped. Wait until you know for sure what direction the rb is going, then spring and hit the rb with the hit stick. Easy medal.
Red Zone Defense & Coverage Mechanics: Pretty similar challenges /drills in my opinion. I suggest usering the safety or lb, whichever you're more comfortable with, but not the linemen.
