Tired of the dull, uninteresting music that drones over Skirmish battles? Would you rather listen to the catchy songs from Co-op mode during Assault battles? Look out, here comes the first ever BW2 Mod!

Okay so it's not much when you get down to it. All I did was change which songs play on which stages. The music itself isn't changed, although I looked at the music files; apparently they're the same type of audio files used by iPhones (ADP). If that's the case custom soundtracks aren't too far away.

So do you want to try this yourself? First you need the BW2 ISO. I can't help you get it. It shouldn't be difficult to get if you have an actual copy of the game anyways. Next you need WiiScrubber. This is a PC program that extracts files from Wii ISOs. Many of the files on the disc are compressed using GZip compression so you'll need gzip.exe to re-compress whatever you edit.

Each level in the game has its own "preload" file, which goes by the filename "[LevelNumber]_Level_preload.xml.gz", where [LevelNumber] is the number of the level you want (SP_1.1, for example, would be the first level of the first campaign, MP1 would be the first Assault mission, etc.) Extract this file in WiiScrubber, open it in WinRAR, and you will see a XML file that you can open in Notepad.

I don't know much about the XML files themselves other than how it tells the game what music to play. Look for a filename ending in .adp - This filename is the music that the level plays. Luckily for us, all the music in the game is neatly labeled with the number of the single player level it plays on. Make any changes you like, save the XML, use gzip to re-compress it, then use Riivolution to load the file. Don't know what Riivolution is? This is not the place to ask.

If that confuses you too much, don't worry, I know it can be confusing at first. Just wait until I figure out stuff about modding the actual levels...THEN we're in trouble.
