Played on ps1 console (model 9001)
From what I can tell, this is the first ever run of this game. I start time when confirming details about the first character, so that runners can customize their character appearance to their liking without losing time. I end time when the screen fades to black after going through the exit in the final mission.

For this category, I'm allowing multiplayer (all controlled by me, and all other characters created during the run) to help with the level grinding. This run would be extremely long if you had to exclusively play with a single character. I am also allowing use of the memory card, but only to save and load characters made during this run. I think a NG+ category would be interesting, where you create a new character, but play against characters you've prepared before the run. It would greatly simplify the grinding aspect of the game, and probably only take a couple hours, assuming good luck during the story missions.

Shoutouts to InfinityGene (https://www.twitch.tv/infinitygene_) who told me that you can press L1+L2+R1+R2+Start+Select to quickly restart the game. I was resetting the console every time until then.

I made an extremely bad blunder during the run, and didn't realize it until near the end. It's really easy to duplicate items during the game. I did this to duplicate Folklore so that all my characters had it, and monsters completely stopped spawning during the non-story missions. You may wonder why I didn't duplicate some of the higher value items, like the jewels worth 1-2000 credits. I haven't done the math to be sure, but my instinct tells me that's just not worth it. You basically need to waste several rounds to duplicate enough of the item to matter, and in most rounds, you'll be picking up some decently valued items anyway, so the value of duplication is minimal.

However! At one point during the run, I picked up an item worth 6666 credits. I think this was the cursed gem, but I didn't identify it and I don't know all the items off the top of my head, so I'm not positive. An item worth that much is absolutely worth duping. If I can pass 5 of those to the main character every round (not 6 because I do still want to be holding Folklore), then main character is earning more than 30000 credits per round. It would take a few rounds to set up, but getting to max level from that point would be extremely fast. Again, I haven't done the math, but I suspect that if I had thought to dupe that gem when I got it, this run would have been more than an hour faster.

This is a fun game! I don't normally play games like this, but I look forward to trying to run this again.
