Battle Islands Review

What’s up, everybody? This is K1NGxAD1O, bringing you the first additional review video of Review Week. Today I will be reviewing Battle Islands, a fun cartoon-style military game where players build an army of soldiers and equipment to use when attacking and overtaking hostile islands, while also building up defenses to protect their own island from other attackers. Upon starting the game, players are given a three day grace period, where they are protected from other players in this massive online game, allowing them to get a feel for the game without being prone to attack from others.
The gameplay is fun and somewhat addicting, but it takes time to build up an army capable of taking on more difficult opponents. There is an almost-storyline approach to the game, giving players the opportunity to invade computer controlled islands, but also an online multiplayer aspect to the game where players can attack other players’ islands.
The wait time for troops to be built isn’t ridiculously long, meaning you can have all of your troops killed, return to base, begin building, and be ready for battle within 5 or 6 minutes. There is an option to skip wait times, which can be purchased with in-game gold. However, gold is bought with real-life currency, or can be picked up by completing challenges and receiving promotions. The game starts you out with about 200 gold anyways, so if a player budgets their gold and continuously progresses in the game, they can play extensively without ever having to make a micro-transaction purchase.
Since the game isn’t a sports game or full of action like most first-person shooter gamesare, there aren’t really a lot of game mechanics to go over or test out. Battle Islands is a simple, entertaining, and relatively fun game to play. I personally love playing the game, and, minus the wait times for more extensive builds, Battle Islands is a near-perfect recreational gaming experience. One big negative factor is that, in the event that you make a huge mistake with your resources, there is no way to start over or reset your game, meaning that you’re left with what you have. So, if you run out of gold and supplies, and can’t train any soldiers to battle to win some back, you’re basically screwed and have to wait days until your factory creates enough supplies to get you back in the game. When that happens though, you will come back a better commander and it is possible to grow outrageously from having nothing.
Lastly, when in battle, many times your soldiers will walk right past enemy defenses or even stand in their line of fire while attacking resources, instead of fighting back. This quickly kills off all of your troops, and the invasion becomes unsuccessful, even though every asset of the enemy was destroyed except the one soldier your guys ignored. This is extremely frustrating, and I lose many battles due to this bug. Other than these issues, the game is great.
On that note, I’d like to wrap this video up by first saying thank you again for checking it out and watching this far into it. If you enjoyed the video, please hit that like button below, and I’ll see you all tomorrow. Thanks for watching.
