DYING LIGHT REVIEW

Hey everyone, thanks for tuning in. This is K1NGxAD1O, bringing you the next review of this month’s Review Week. Today I’ll be presenting a review of Dying Light, a zombie survival game with an interesting approach to the genre and wall-running, fence-hopping, undead-vaulting parkour abilities.
Early on in the game, combat is difficult, and a player’s first instinct would be to run away and avoid massive hoards of the undead, but with time, things become more user-friendly in the form of leveling up skills, modifying weapons, and learning new techniques. The controls are slightly confusing at first, with the jump action mapped to the right bumper, and kicking initiated by the left. In addition, players aim by pushing in the right stick, rather than the usual left trigger, which is now occupied by your gadget of choice. The combat is sloppy and clumsy, with the undead attacking from every angle while you swing away with a baseball bat or an axe. Once a player’s combat stamina is depleted, they must back away from the action to let the stamina recharge before continuing to fight.
Enemies in the game can take a ton of damage, making altercations seem hard and near-impossible, and battles require a lot of swinging just to take out a few attackers. Facing a mob of these flesh-eating bastards can seem unwise and suicidal, but with careful execution and movement, players will shortly find themselves standing over a pile of twice-dead corpses.
In game, players attempt to complete mission and secure safe zones. These safe zones provide security from enemies and shelter for survivors. In addition, these areas also allow for trading and side missions, creating an ever-expanding environment.
When swinging away at rotting assailants, players’ melee weapons will begin to fall apart and break. This is countered by the ability to repair your weapons on the go in usually just a few seconds, an excellent feature for the game, meaning players are not left without their favorite weapon until they return to base if it breaks.
The parkour running style of movement is exceptionally fun once the controls are figured out, with ramps, walls, cars, bridges, fences, and even the undead themselves to vault over in an athletic manner. Upon learning the controls and layout of the area, this first person shooter parkour element becomes fluid and extremely entertaining.
At night, players are rewarded with an XP boost, making leveling up easier, with the tradeoff of more dangerous and deadly foes lurking in the shadows.
Alongside the main storyline is a vast array of side missions to help keep the story going, and these side missions often tell additional details involving the storyline, creating a more thorough understanding of what all is going on in the game.
The co-op campaign option allows for even more fun and entertainment while slashing your way through the city of Horran, and makes the game less difficult and more casual with 3 partners watching your back. The online sessions are smooth and consistent, creating a solid online team effort experience.
Overall, Dying Light is an exceptionally addicting zombie survival game with excellent side quests, online co-op, and brilliant game mechanics. I recommend Dying Light for fans of the old Dead Island games looking for a refreshing take on assaulting the undead. With that being said, I’ll wrap this up by saying thank you for watching, and if you enjoy the video, be sure to hit that like below and let me know what you thought. Thanks again, and I’ll see you in the next one.
