Ah Bad Company 2

I have so many mixed views on this game

On the one hand, the graphics & destruction were groundbreaking for the time (& not bad even for today) we got a free DLC expansion that could have passed as an entirely new game & the singleplayer campaign was a fun distraction but imo that is where the good stuff for this game ends

first some history for those who might not be aware, originally EA never intended for this game to come out on PC, the prequel was a console exclusive & if it wasn't for the huge outcry from the PC community this game would have been no different, EA caving to pressure & announcing it for PC (at literally the last minute) unfortunately resulted in quite possibly one of the worst console ports in FPS gaming history

the game physics are tied to 30fps, setting it above will break the physics
mouse smoothing & acceleration cannot be disabled
prone (while featured in the beta) was absent in the final release
matches were capped to 32 players
VOIP barely worked


needless to say i wasn't overly impressed with this game & imo this was the point where the franchise took a major step backwards from being a military sim & a major step forward in the casual direction, so many of the features that made Battlefield 2 amazing were removed which all felt like a limiting factor of the new engine

still, i can't help but feel i missed out by not playing it more back in the day as dispite its glaring flaws it is still a cool experience
