Battlefield Bootcamp | Mastering The Recon Class: Sniping
This week on Battlefield Bootcamp, Addison Smith and Jonno Stanton discuss sniping, for anyone who has yet to try or master the Recon class in Battlefield 3.
When sniping, take bullet drop and bullet travel time into account. Bullet drop is gravity's effect on bullets over distance. Practice shooting over distance with the same gun and the same scope. See where your bullets are hitting so you can gauge how much bullet drop and travel time your gun has, and adjust accordingly.
Lead targets when aiming at sprinting soldiers. Fire ahead of them to take bullet travel time into account.
Try using the M40A5. It's a good mid to long range sniper rifle. Also, try using the M98B if you are having trouble hitting targets at a distance.
If you are sniping, the best place to position yourself is further away from the action.
Use the right scope for the right situation. Use no scope for CQ matches and 12x scopes for sniping from distance, or taking out enemy explosives from a safe range. Try shooting pilots inside helicopters as well for extra kudos!
