Battletoads NES | Level #11: Clinger Winger (Perfect Run)
ROMY's NOTES:
This is hands down my favorite level in the game for it's unique game-play design and it contains one of my favorite music themes. It's quite funny to say that because this is the one level many people dislike the most or say that it's damn near impossible.
What makes this difficult?
#1. You can only move in one direction and you must have your thumb on the D-Pad at all times following the right path. If you don't, you slow down and the orb kills you with one hit.
#2. There are no checkpoints throughout the entire course until you reach the boss battle. Basically if you die at all on this Clinger Winger course, you start back from the beginning of the level.
#3. You must learn how to hit the corners at near frame perfect in order to gain distance from the Orb. This game runs at 60 frames per second, meaning to perfectly hit those corners, it's 1/60th of a second! This is required since the orb is faster than you are on long straight-a-ways, especially near the end.
Mr. Garrison can attest to this and for a good reason. Soon in the future is the third and final challenge in the Battletoads Holy Trinity: The Clinger Winger Challenge. I'll do another separate post explaining this in details.
I did a test-run on this level, but I felt obligated to recorded this once again with better audio and perfect frame-rate like the others. Also, it's a perfect run: No lives or health loss. Also, I not only kicked the orbs ass in the course but at the boss battle as well. Look at the distance between me and the orb! Enjoy!"
