Hi this is Isaac and welcome to my commentary on Battletoads for the NES. In this video I played through the first half of the game, playing through the first 6 levels out of 12, (13 if you count the final boss as its own level like the game does.) Below is a list of some of the comments that I made during this video and anything notable that I wanted to mention here about each section.

Intro/1st Stage Ragnarok’s Canyon Highlights 00:00 to 3:59

I began my commentary by giving an overview of the gameplay and my thoughts and experiences with the game during the intro scene. If you want to watch the intro scene without commentary here’s a link to the intro by itself.    • Battletoads NES Intro Cutscene Withou...   I also mentioned the game’s randomness in many of its text scenes which can be seen here https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/587125-b... and I talked about the game’s manual which can be viewed here. https://www.digitpress.com/library/manuals... During the first stage Ragnarok’s Canyon I talked about running and attacks that you can perform while running. The stage went by quickly and at the end I battled the Boss Walker which is one of the parts of the game that I felt was very unique.

2nd Stage Wookie Hole Highlights 3:59 to 6:50

This stage notably is the only one to feature you riding a turbo cable. I talked about the special move that you can perform only while in this level as well as some of the strategies that I used here. Overall, I played through this level flawlessly and quickly in my opinion.

3rd Stage Turbo Tunnel Highlights 6:50 to 10:10

During the commentary for this stage, I praised its graphics and music and talked about the strategies I used to complete it without dying.

4th Stage Arctic Caverns Highlights 10:10 to 14:11

At this point in the video, I brought up the mega warps briefly in my discussion of the game. Their locations can be seen here.    • Battletoads (NES) All Warp Zones   This is also where my first death occurred but it was right next to a checkpoint and I didn’t die otherwise even on the major section that I felt can be difficult so that was good.

5th Stage Surf City Highlights 14:11 to 16:59

In this stage I talked about one of the little details in the game that I liked, the 1up item. I also battled the second boss of the game, Big Blag. It is true to some degree; I think that you learn something new every day and while making this video and looking at other videos of this game I found a new strategy for this boss that seems to be easier than the strategy I’ve been using. Other than having a bit of trouble with battling Big Blag this stage went quite well, I think.

6th Stage Karnath’s Lair Highlights 16:59 to 20:07

In the commentary for this stage I talked about the alternate pathways that I took here, one that was intended by the developers and one that was likely unintended by them. I also made a mistake during one part that I didn't notice until now and I didn't feel like taking the time to redo the video editing. I said " When you are on a snake it will push you in a certain predetermined direction like a conveyor belt or sometimes you will have to keep moving..." I meant to say, "so sometimes you will have to keep moving." While playing this game I found this level to be one of the easier parts of the game by this game’s standards and like on most playthroughs of this level I didn’t have any problems clearing it in this video.
