We're back for another run at Battletoads/Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team for NES!

After a good faith attempt to get Greg past the speederbike segment with me, we bite the bullet and use the game's built-in warp zone cheat (remember Greg baffling me last week with a Game Genie code that had characters not present in the Game Genie interface? Turns out those U's and D's were shorthand for "Up" and "Down" on the control pad!) to find out what lies beyond.

As it turns out, this game doesn't falter: from start to finish, it's a delivery on all the promise of Battletoads, with none of the controller-flinging madness of the original's clumsy design and cheap approach to difficulty.

Next time, we're on to the game's "true" sequel, Battletoads in Battlemaniacs. Will it carry on the tradition of Battletoads/Double Dragon? Forge interesting new territory for the series and the genre? Blandly rehash an incomplete set of the original's levels with none of the improvements this crossover/spinoff exhibited?
