For more than 25 years, Angels for Humans, Animals, and Nature (AHAN), a rescue group in San Francisco, has found 20,000 cats and dogs loving homes. The idea for the organization originated after founder Vicky Lynn watched a video of neglected animals.

"This lady from SPCA, she handed me a tape", Lynn recalls, "and I…looked at it, I was so horrified at what I saw in there".

Lynn started AHAN in 1995 to help animals in need find forever homes. In addition to local pets, AHAN also adopts dogs from as far as Taiwan. Every animal is evaluated to ensure that they are suitable and ready for adoption.

"They all need to be spayed and neutered. They all need to have a clear health check so when they come here, there will be no problems or surprises", Lynn explains.

"They are just so ethical on how they provide real information about dogs" adopter Susan Morgan adds, "they provide videos…you can really get a sense of the temperament of a dog"

Morgan adopted two dogs from Taiwan, a decision that has brought her joy.

"These two have added so much to my life", Morgan shares as she pets her dogs.
