Bayonetta 2 Part 1/4: A Whole New Song And Dance
0Hey, it's Bayonetta 2, just like I promised!
So, according to Wikipedia, Hideki Kamiya and Yusuke Hashimoto had discussions about what a sequel to Bayonetta would look like. Sega said they wanted a sequel, but Kamiya was busy with Wonderful 101, so Hashimoto took the reins on this.
For whatever reason, Sega stopped funding development and the game was put on ice. Then along comes Nintendo, who were like, "Yo, Platinum, your games rule, we'll pay for you to finish Bayonetta 2 if you put it on the Wii U," and so they did.
Obviously, it was a big shock that family-friendly Nintendo would want Bayonetta 2, but according to people at Platinum, Nintendo was very hands-off, a "silent observer." They felt Platinum knew what they were doing, so they let them do it.
And the result is good! The original is great, but they still managed to refine the gameplay further. Dodge offset is easier to do now, your rank isn't penalized for using items, you don't lose half a magic meter for taking a hit, things like that.
