Bayonetta running on Xbox One [Quick Test/Game DVR function]
Welp, it's been a long time coming, but Bayonetta is finally backwards compatible on the Xbox One, and I couldn't be more excited.
So how does it run? For the most part, it manages to stay at 60fps pretty much exactly where the 360 does, however, there ARE frame drops in stages that have busy backgrounds, like Route 666. There's also these very odd moments, at least on my end, where the game just completely halts to a complete slowdown at random moments. This usually happened to me while I was doing a quick Angel Slayer run in the Lost Chapter.
The visuals are pretty much the same. No odd flickering, screen tearing is virtually eliminated, and the colors remain very solid and warm. I don't remember if this happened on the 360 version, but there are moments where the game takes slightly longer to load some visual cues, like Bayonetta's hair, causing some slight graphical errors, but nothing extremely out of the usual. Again, this could be my own end, but I'll make further analysis as time goes on, assuming Digital Foundry doesn't take a crack at this one.
Overall, I'd still recommend playing this game on the 360, but the Xbox One version handles the game surprisingly well, so it's a nice alternative alongside the Wii U version. I'm going to continue playing this game on my Xbox One just because my 360 is starting to overheat and the fan is SUPER LOUD and I can't stand it.
