Each puzzle has a set of recipes -- instructions for how to create various monsters. The books in the lower-left can let you create the orange dinosaur-looking monster (a "roller"), or the yellow circle-looking monster (a "bomb"), with their own recipe bean cost.

ALL OF THIS IS STUFF I WROTE in case you're confused by the mechanics, as part of playing the game is figuring out the mechanics, it heavily relies on knowing them.

The player 'moves first' before other things.

Two things trying to move into the same space will act as if they hit a wall in that same space (nothing will go into that space).

Placing and dropping beans is a free action.

You can't walk on 'mud' floors. Recipes are not able to be created on tiled floors.

The player can shoot their wand to fire axial rays. It stops at the first square with beans and only turns it into the monster if it's an exact match for a recipe.

Dino (orange): Upon axially seeing the player (horizontally or vertically with no walls or enemies between), the Dino lunges in that direction up to 2 spaces, then continues to roll each turn until hitting the next wall/enemy/water, and then it will stop. It cannot lunge or change directions if it's rolling. Kills the player if it hits the player - otherwise it attempts to push the monster it hit.

Bomb (yellow): Spawns stationary, but can be shoved (by the player) or pushed (by anything) to start moving in that direction each turn. It cannot change directions if moving, unless it hits a water block (and turns to move the opposite way). Besides water, if it hits anything else, the Bomb explodes all squares in a 3x3 (or if you prefer, a '1 radius' centered on the bomb). This explosion only affects the player, cracked blocks, and monsters - monsters generally turn back into their bean recipe when killed (but the Bomb explodes).

Bucket (brown): Spawns stationary, but can be shoved (by the player) or pushed (by anything) to start moving in that direction each turn. It turns to move the opposite way after colliding with anything, except water (where it falls and drowns). It ducks if it'd be otherwise blocking an axial ray (unless it's holding a bean). It can hold 1 bean in itself by picking up a bean on the ground (if multiple beans are on a square, it picks the type of the leftmost one, reflected by the inventory). If shot by an axial ray with a bean in itself, it drops that bean (unless it just picked up the bean - the ray does nothing in this case). The bucket is "indestructible" - bombs don't blow it up.
