Sonic 2's final boss, the Death Egg Robot, beaten in only one cycle as Tails.

I remember when I used to lose a lot of lives in Death Egg Zone while playing Sonic 2 for the first time over a decade ago. Silver Sonic alone was hard to narrow down, and the Death Egg Robot would constantly kill me over and over again. It took a lot of lives, continues and even whole runs for the younger me to beat the Death Egg Robot, and after a good amount of trying, I finally did it. I would then go on to replay the game over and over again and beat the boss faster and more efficiently, as well as on my first tries. After many times of replaying the old classic Sonic games, I perfected many runs. Beating the Death Egg Zone's final boss isn't a problem to me today, and I guess this video is me flexing my skills as someone who kept trying and improving from failure, no matter the odds. This boss is among the toughest, but I think it's mostly because of the lack of any rings in the level and the fact that the boss itself suffers from some serious hitbox issues.

However, as much as I am proud of my skills at classic Sonic games, Sonic 4 Episode 1's Death Egg Robot Mk. II is really, really difficult. If I had to pick the hardest boss in a Sonic game, that would be it. It gives me nightmares even years after I beat that game.

(I actually wanted to make this video with Sonic instead of Tails, but it kind of doesn't matter much since Tails' flight ability doesn't get much handy in the fight and he only has a smaller hitbox when standing, walking and crouching)
