It's me Mari! Today you will learn how to play Battleship!

Battleship is a classic board game that has been entertaining families for generations. The game is played on a grid where players take turns guessing the location of their opponent's ships.
The objective of the game is to sink all of your opponent's ships before they sink all of yours.
The game is played with two players and involves strategy, luck, and a bit of guessing. Each player has a set of ships that they place on the grid, and the opponent must try to sink them by guessing the coordinates of their location. It's a game of strategy and luck, as players must use their best judgement to outsmart their opponent.
The game includes ships like cruiser, destroyer, submarines and aircraft carrier, each with different size and functionality. it can be played by kids and adults, and it's a perfect game for family night, birthday parties, or any time you want to have some fun with friends.

Names of the ships are as follows:
- Carrier (occupies 5 spaces)
- Battleship (4)
- Cruiser (3)
- Submarine (3)
- Destroyer (2)

You can choose not to say the name of the ships for increased challenge.

Salvo variation of the game for more expert players:

On your turn, call out 5 different shots. As you call out each shot, mark it with a white (or green) peg in your target ocean grid.

At the end of your salvo, your opponent must announce which shots were hits and which ships were hit.

If any of your shots are hits, change their corresponding white (or green) pegs to red pegs on your target grid. Your opponent must place red pegs in the holes of the ships that were hit.

Whenever any one of your ships has been sunk, you lose one shot when you fire your next salvo. So, the more ships sunk, the less shots you get.

The object of the game is to be the first to sink all 5 of your opponent’s ships.
Sit across your opponent with the lid of your grid raised so neither of you can see the other’s battlefield.
Secretly place your fleet of 5 ships on your ocean grid.
Ships can only be placed horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally.
Ships cannot overlap the edge of the grid or another ship.
Once this is done, the first player takes a shot, picking a target hole on your upright target grid and calling out its location by saying a letter and number.
For example, B-2, represents the hole where row B intersects with column 2.
Your opponent looks at the coordinate you choose and if the location is empty, they must tell you the shot is a miss.
Record your miss by placing a white peg (or green depending on your version) on your target grid.
If you call a shot and there is a part of a ship, your opponent must tell you it’s a hit and which ship it was.
Record your hit by placing a red peg in the corresponding target hole on your target grid.
Your opponent places a red peg in the corresponding hole of the ship you have hit on their ocean grid.
After a hit or a miss, your turn is over.
Once all the holes of a ship are filled, it has been sunk.
The ship’s owner must announce which ship was sunk.
If you're the first player to sink your opponent's entire fleet before they sink yours, you win the game!
And that’s how you play battleship!
