Angar is good, harder than most bosses in Dark Souls. But it's possible to win with a single sword if its length is about 110. First remember to keep the distance. Too close, and you are done for. No matter what level you are on. Better to miss once than to risk a defeat with his fast series of crushing blows in the clinch. Second don't attack while he is sideways towards you, just move in front of him to provoke his swinging attack remembering of a safe distance. After he swings he returns to his stance with his torso facing you. That's when he is most vulnerable to your fast lunge. You need just two strikes to use. Sideways left direction swing and a stab, those are the most effective moves. Sometimes a fast swing can be used to push him to a safer distance but better not to let him close in the first place. Stab should be used only when he stops in defensive stance but always when he does so.
