Behind the Stunts of Wednesday
0Do you know what all went into the making of the stunts on the first season of the Netflix series Wednesday? Today, we’ll be going into all of the behind the scenes details for the action scenes on this updated take on The Addams Family! Jenna Ortega took on the role of Wednesday Addams, even appearing on-screen with her predecessor, Christina Ricci! But did you know that Jenna Ortega actually insisted on doing many of her own stunts herself? She and Joy Sunday both had to learn how to fence for the role, and the entire cast also had to learn how to canoe! Emma Myers was forced to attend what she referred to as ‘werewolf boot camp’ for her role as Wednesday Addams’ werewolf roommate Enid, which she remembered as being ‘weird.’ Tim Burton insisted on bringing in a real actor to portray Thing, similar to what director Barry Sonnenfeld had done for 1991’s The Addams Family and 1993’s The Addams Family Values. And so, magician Victor Dorobantu was brought in, wearing a full VFX suit! Brett Chan served as the stunt co-ordinator, and he’s worked on a number of incredibly impressive projects in the past. He has worked with Netflix previously on Marco Polo and Warrior, but he has also lended his skills in the world of movies with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Jenna Ortega’s stunt double, Jenny Ayumi Umbhau, brings a pretty impressive resume to the role as well, having previously worked with Cirque du Solei.
