Bendy and the Ink Machine PLEASE DON'T HURT ME! *Warning Flashing Lights and loud noises*
1WARNING THIS GAME HAS FLASHING LIGHTS, LOUD NOISES, AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD TRIGGER ANXIETY AND AUTISM OR PHOTO SENSITIVITY ISSUES.
So one of the goals I had was I would play Bendy and the Ink Machine a game I got for free in a raffle long time ago (I think when the game released its final chapter).
And while, I like the aesthetic, character design, the music, the lore, the inspiration...I HATE EVERYTHING ELSE!
The constant flickering of the lights were giving me issues due to autism and anxiety, and then that one big one that happens in chapter four that basically made me break into a full blown anxiety attack that I had to end stream, luckily my chat pointed out the goal I hit was to PLAY the game not Play it to Completion. I love my chat.
Another issue is well the scares, first game it was good the turn away then thing there, something that shouldn't move moving, BUT then they relied on the jump scare loud noises in later chapters.
Then there was the stupid shitty chapter 3, the introduction to alice angel is great the song then her yes good, but then they make you do repetitive fetch quests which also add the "Hide from the demon" thing and like the objects in question are in random spots just...it god boring fast.
Then Chapter 4 at the beginning it had this bright flashing light, like the whole game has the flicker and I know "set in an abandoned place" but it doesn't flicker light that, that fast to a point its uncomfortable. So I researched to see if there was any warning about that BIG flash that happens...there is one I repeats 1 article on wordpress that warns it, The official Site and the game page on steam do not warn about this, the game itself doesn't they should warn about stuff like this but they didn't and this annoys me, like cant even pull this is an indie game excuse because even indie games warn about lights.
I am shocked there isn't more warnings, but I wonder if people stopped playing bendy after chapter 3 because lets be honest chapter 3 sucks!
I want to enjoy this game, I like horror, but I hate jump scares especially ones that use loud noises as well (hence why I hate FNAF) I can't handle them and I respect my limits, I love the art style, I love the cool classic cartoons look, I love the concept, the lore...heck I like the fan songs made, and that content, I just don't like the game itself.
I just don't see myself continuing this game I am sorry folks if you have hope for that to happen, its not going to, not even in a funny donate x amount kind of deal. I respect my mental health too much.
Like I am a full advocate of putting warnings in games, People need to know what they are getting into. The way the fans acted it didn't have this, hell this game isn't labeled as horror on twitch which if should because everyone calls it a horror game. Sorry just...I am disappointed with how this came out, no way to turn off the flicker, no warning about the flicker, nothing and this is a game I should enjoy...but I cant. I will stick to like reading about it, and maybe fan vids or something. I don't know. Just sad I can't really be part of the fun.
