Bethesda’s Pete Hines understands PlayStation players frustration over Starfield Xbox exclusivity
Bethesda Softworks SVP of Global Marketing & Communications, Pete Hines, has said he understands PlayStation fans’ frustration over Starfield’s Xbox console exclusivity.
The upcoming sci-fi RPG title is set to release on November 11, 2022, for Xbox Series X|S and PC, and Hines has offered his sympathy to PlayStation players who won’t be able to try the game.
In an interview with GameSpot, he said: “If you're a big fan of the stuff we make and a game that we're making is no longer available on your platform, I totally understand if you're unhappy…
“Like, I get it. Those are all real feelings and frustrations. How should you deal with that, I haven't the foggiest idea. I would never presume to say, 'Oh, here's how you can make it better and feel better.'”
Hines goes on to say that he is a PlayStation 5 player himself but there’s not a lot he can do about Starfield being an Xbox console exclusive.
He added: “I don't know how to allay the fears and concerns of PlayStation 5 fans other than to say, well, I'm a PlayStation 5 player as well and I've played games on that console and there's games I'm gonna continue to play on it, but if you want to play Starfield, PC and Xbox, sorry.
“All I can really say is 'I apologize', because I'm certain that's frustrating to folks. But there's not a whole lot I can do about it.”
