More than 20 years after release, and nearly as long in my backlog, I finally played Beyond Good & Evil. Unfortunately, I chose to play the PC port. I do not recommend this game on PC. If you're playing on PC then emulation is probably the better choice than the PC version of this game.

Aside from my poor choices, I see why this game generated such a strong following back when it was released. In 2003 a lot of the gameplay would have been top tier for a 3D action puzzle game. The music is solid - I can see myself going back to the soundtrack or looking for orchestrated and symphonic versions. Character models have a much higher polygon count than I had expected. Tie all that together with good voice acting (also a tease for a sequel) and you get a dedicated fanbase.

I'm glad I played it. I'm sad I didn't emulate it or seek out a disk.
