● About the Game: Beyond Space is a cutting-edge 3D space shooter game that immerses players in the darkest plots in a similar vein to the best Space Operas. Scores of planetary systems, nebulas and asteroid fields to explore. Fully detailed 3D Graphics, mesmerizing, beautifully painted spacescapes, spectacular special effects, and rendered glows, lights, sun flares and reflections. All of which intensified with an ambient yet dynamic soundtrack and great sound effects. You are Max Walker, a spacefaring adventurer and pilot-for-hire, who gets drawn into a galaxy-spanning conflict.
● Personal Rating: ★★★✫✫
First off it should be mentioned that there is no mouse control for the ship. Personally, I don't mind it since it is more of an arcade style game, but I understand how it might turn off some people. It is fast paced, it has nice graphics, plenty of combat, short cutscenes and decent dialogue. There is a good selection of ships, primary and secondary weapons, shields and engines all of which are not available on every ship so there is some strategy involved. The gameplay is not kill x amount of enemies each mission, there are some race missions thrown in there. The story is pretty bare bones, but myself, being a sucker for space sims have enjoyed it nonetheless. I think what they have here is a good concept and if they manage to make the game more in depth, add more stuff, create more levels, include a well written storyline and last but not least add freaking mouse support for ship controls it will become a pretty solid single player experience. As it stands, it is a good fix for any space sim junky out there.
