After sending a bug report to Larian the reply contained some interesting news that there will be a dual wield update in the future, and also why the bugbears carry around morning stars that do 2d8 damage instead of 1d8!

Do keep in mind that Baldur's Gate 3 is still in early access and so the features shown in the video are subject to change and the game is incomplete, so expect more to be added to the game in the future. At time of recording the game was still in Early Access Patch 5, and by the time of the full release of Baldur's Gate 3 things may have changed.
