Billy Learns About Garrison Building in Hell Let Loose
Billy learns about the importance of garrisons in Hell Let Loose...
This is my friend Billy, Hello! Ha ha ha Billy’s a bit of a noob in Hell Let Loose, often running around shooting his little gun, but not really accomplishing a whole lot for the team, but that’s okay, because in this video, we’re gonna teach Billy all about the importance of garrisons, and how he can actually contribute something meaningful to the war effort!
Gee whiz, Redcoat! That sure sounds swell!
It sure does, Billy…
So, Billy, this is a garrison – You’ve probably seen them as a buildable table out in the field or the streets, and maybe even as a white or red circle on the map.
I think I have, Redcoat! But gee I’ve never been sure what they do, I’ve only played for 600 hours!
Ho hooo WOW, Billy, okay well these ‘Garrisons’ or ‘Garri’s’ for short, can be built by squad leaders and the commander. They’re very important, and they do some quiet extraordinary.
What’s that, Redcoat?
Well, Billy, ya see these Garrisons allow the entire team to spawn in, right around the table, almost anywhere on the map in the blue zone, and up to 2 grid squares deep into the red. Your team can have up to 8 garrisons deployed at a time, making them extremely powerful for both attacking and defensive purposes.
Wowy! So these player-built garrisons are what I’ve been spawning on every time I click a spawn point and magically re appear after getting killed?
That’s right, Billy!
But so Redcoat, what happens if there are no more garrisons left on the map when I need to respawn?
That’s an excellent question, Billy! And the answer is the reason for your team losing most of its matches!
Ya see, when there aren’t enough garrisons to spawn on in areas where it actually matters, such as around defensive strongholds or in good attacking positions in the enemy sector, then your team is limited to spawning on flimsy outposts that are too easy for the enemy to destroy, or all the way back at the team’s HQ, which is often too far from the frontline to be of much use to soldiers like you and me, Billy.
Uh-huh!
That means that your team is then unable to put men on the ground where they need to be, which makes it easier for the enemy to swoop in and capture ground from our side, that would other wise be easily defend-able if only we had more garrisons to spawn on.
Gee whirlickers, Redcoat! So you’re saying that all these times I’ve been running around shooting bad guys all match like it’s Battlefield or Call of Duty while our team only has 1 or 2 garrisons on the map hasn’t been all that useful?
That’s right, Billy! You’ve been wasting your time getting frags, when you should’ve been helping your squad leader create more garrisons, and not just 1 or 2 at the start of the match, but constantly checking the map and replacing garrisons at the enemy manages to destroy as well.
Holy moly, I had no idea!
But how do I know where to build garrisons, Redcoat? It sure does seem like a lot of responsibility!
It’s normal to be a little anxious, Billy, but it’s really very easy to do! There aren’t really any right or wrong ways to do it, so long as you hide the garrison somewhere out of sight, like behind this bush or inside this courtyard, then it will do the job just fine. You shouldn’t expect a garrison to last forever, you just need it to last long enough for your team to gain the upper hand.
I think I understand!
And Billy… Have you ever noticed a small warning symbol appearing next to garrisons on the map?
I sure have, Redcoat! But what does it mean?
Well, when a garrison ‘lights up’ like that, it means enemies are close by, and you should go over there and look for them, because if the enemy gets too close, the garrison will become locked, and nobody will be able to spawn on it. What’s worse is if nobody goes over there to clear it out, the enemy will probably dismantle it for good.
Now a useful trick you can pull is instead of placing just 1 garrison in the center of a defensive stronghold and relying on pure firepower to hold it, is to place 3 or 4 garrisons evenly spread out around the strongpoint to create a sort of early warning radar system, where each garrison lights up when an enemy is nearby, allowing you to quickly see not only WHEN the enemy is trying to attack, but also from which angle, so you and your squad can focus all your efforts on repelling the attackers and following the ant-trail of enemies back to their garrison to be destroyed, effectively shutting down their offensive.
