The story was excellent, unique and engaging. The voice acting and dialogues were amazing and funny at times. The British did have a British accent, the Americans sounded like typical Americans and the French and Japanese did talk in their respective languages with some English here and there. I’d go as far as saying that the fun I had playing this was just as much as Mass Effect 2, if not more.
This game also requires you to talk to your teammates and give them orders along the way, which is a nice touch. You can either speak into your mic (which is cool, given how old the game is) or use the in game menu. You also get to choose your crew members whenever you split into teams.
The boss fights are also quite frequent, which means that you get to fight different kinds of enemy bosses with different play styles, abilities and weapons. The enemy units are also quite diverse and have different weapons and play styles. The number of weapons available to you are also sufficient.
Weapons upgrade and ability boost vending machines are also a nice touch.
Apart from that, the game also has parts where you get to do the old school video game stuff like Tomb Raider games, where you need to keep dodging and running constantly. They’re pretty difficult as well, but can be annoying to some people.

A few areas where this game does lag behind Mass Effect 2, though, are:
1. The Depth to character and personality of NPCs: In Mass Effect 2, each character (alien) had their own viewpoints of the world and living a life, in general. Some were aggressive and bold, some were calm and composed, some were materialistic and so on. You could talk to them and find out about how different upbringings could shape your views to the world. This component was missing here. While the characters did sound like their respective nationalities, they didn’t have a unique personality.
2. The gameplay control system: Having the same button (spacebar) for sprint and taking cover was a bit annoying at times. There were times when you’d try sprinting away from an enemy but would stick to the wall instead. They should’ve thought about it.
3. The background setting: Although I do agree that Mass Effect 2 had a story that allowed for more diverse environments, as in, different planets with random terrains, you could still have had more background diversity in here as well if different parts of the mission were set in different countries instead of just Tokyo, Japan. In the end, you do enter a high tech building but that’s pretty much it, a futuristic city and a high tech building.
4. The UI: I get it that pressing ‘Q’ would focus at the person talking or the things teammates are pointing to, so you don’t need to show it on the middle of the screen every single time.

Other than that, the only major drawback, according to me would be that the graphics quality is shit, by today’s (early 2019) standards. While that might be a dealbreaker for some, I’d still suggest you give it a shot.
