Foi lançado em todo o mundo para o Microsoft Windows , PlayStation 3 e Xbox 360 plataformas de março em 26, 2013; uma OS X porta por Aspyr . mais tarde foi lançado em 29 de agosto de 2013 Infinito é a terceira parcela da série BioShock , e embora não é imediatamente parte da história dos jogos anteriores BioShock, faz apresentam conceitos de jogabilidade semelhantes e temas. Irrational Games e diretor criativo Ken Levine base o conceito do jogo e definir nas idéias de excepcionalismo americano , tomando inspiração de eventos históricos na virada do século 20, como a 1893 exposição Columbian do mundo , ao mesmo tempo, incorporando influências de eventos mais recentes no tempo, como o 2011 movimento Occupy .
