You can state with certainty ( until proven otherwise ) that he knew why.
But according to his words following Corona, he believed the reason would be the federal deficit. He does STATE HERE that he knows the identity of Bitcoin's founder will cause Bitcoin's value to drop to 0. Hence he states he knows who that person is. That leads me to speculate that identity is tied to a person, most people don't want to be affiliated with by any stretch.

And if they know this now, they show they have the reign in hand.
So when it becomes public, it becomes public when they choose to make it public. They won't lose any money over it, but a lot of others will.
