After some difficulty, I managed to get Black Dahlia working, and I livestreamed the entire game. This is the two-hour first part of that series, and I'm including the steps I took to get it working - I say it aloud about 15 minutes into the video, but here's an itemized list. P.S. I'm not linking to any files. GIYF.

1. Downloaded VirtualBox 4.3
2. Installed Windows 98 SE in the VM.
3. In System Settings, under Motherboard, set Base Memory to 512MB and turn on Enable I/O APIC (may not be necessary).
4. Under Processor, set processor to 1 and Execution Cap to 100, and turn Enable PAE/NX on (may not be necessary).
5. Under Acceleration, , turn VT-x/AMD-V OFF. It MUST be DISABLED. This is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
6. Download SciTech Display Doctor - drop it into the VM and install. You may have to restart once or twice.
7. You might be able to use the real discs in your CDROM drive in VirtualBox, but to make things easy on myself, I turned my discs into ISOs and loaded them into DAEMON Tools, and installed the game.
8. Installed the official patch. (may not be necessary)

The end result is that your Windows 98 emulation will be quite slow, but Black Dahlia runs like a dream (almost) from start to finish. No crashes, no mouse problems. It's entirely playable. The only downside I found was that while you're completely stationery, there's some crackling and popping during the music. It doesn't happen during FMV's or while moving.

I have not tried this on Windows 8 or 10. I will not answer questions asking for further help. This is all you get.
