Black Myth: Wukong is an action role-playing game. It is inspired by the classical Chinese novel Journey to the West. The player controls a monkey referred to as the Destined One, who is based on Sun Wukong from the novel.
Black Myth: Wukong is more than just another Dark Souls. It’s a Dark Souls where you play as a mythical Chinese monkey man with a big stick—who really likes bouncing around the battlefield and using magic to become as hard to hit as possible.
Game Science spokesperson looked to reassure those who might be worried about the ‘Souls-like’ label.
“I think for the average player, this game is easy to start with,” he explained to CharlieIntel at a preview event. “There are so many different kinds of spells and transformations, and the main character is very strong in action. What we don’t want to do is frustrate the players.”
“[When compared] to the games you mentioned, we hope to create gameplay that is very competitive and we want players to enjoy the battles – not be frustrated by them.”
Black Myth: Wukong (黑神话：悟空) is an upcoming action role-playing game developed and published by Game Science. It is inspired by the 16th-century classical Chinese novel Journey to the West. It is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5 and Windows on August 20, 2024, with an Xbox Series X/S version slated for a later release.
